How I Started:
I wanted to improve my appearance and fitness level. Coming out of high school I was over 350 lbs. A good friend taught me enough about nutrition and weight lifting to get me started. I started to see results and have strived to do better ever since.
Why I Love It:
Resulting increased energy and improved appearance. After a workout, I have a much more positive attitude and my self worth / esteem is much better.
How I Stay Motivated:
Setting an example for my family (wife & 7 year old boy) and seeing incremental results. Learning from others on this website and seeing what they have overcome has been inspiring.
I took this picture recently. It shows me wearing the pants that I had in 1989!! I kept 1 pair as a reminder of where I was and where I never, ever want to be again ...
I typically start out with 12 reps and descend to 6 reps with increasing weight to maximize muscle growth.

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
1 minute. It tends to take my body that long to recover. If I start at a faster pace with the same workload I struggle with completing all the exercises I've planned during my workout.
Its been awhile since I last posted so I thought I'd give a quick summary:
Day 43: Chest, Shoulders & Triceps - My nutrition was on track (2750 cal) however I didn't complete my workout. I had the seasonal influenza shot so my left shoulder just wasn't quite up to...
As a fellow Canadian and former Albertan I stopped by to wish you success as you work towards your fitness goal. Exercising and a proper nutrition program helped both myself and my wife (bodyspace: judimax) feel and look better than we ever have. If there is ever anything that I can do to be of assistance please feel free to give me a yell. I would like nothing better than to see you achieve all you dream of on your fitness journey. Stay strong, focused and determined
