How I Started:
I have been working out for a number of years (running, aerobic, cycling, yoga, muscle toning), but never really incorporated a true bodybuilding regime into my workout plan.
Why I Love It:
I love the energy and adrenaline kick I receive from some workouts. Also, if I have had a bad day, I find a good heart pumping workout is a great way to pick up one's mood. The effort put into a workout is absolutely fantastic for overall physical and mental health.
How I Stay Motivated:
A variety of different ways: having a set goal, music, a training partner and knowing how 'happy' my body feels afterwards (I know, it sounds a bit corny).

My goal is to compete in the 2009 season of MOMAR (Mind Over Mountain Adventure Race).
Goal (Long):
This will be my first adventure race and aside from developing skills that I have neglected for years (sea kayaking and navigation skills), I seek to build strength and endurance to complete the race with a good time (yet to be determined). An adventure race is similar to a triathalon in that it involves a running, cycling and kayak, rather than swim, components; the difference is that the terrain is mountainous.
It appears that a bit of time has passed since I last logged onto Bodybuilding.com; an outcome of life's sometimes chaotic pace. In spite of the accelerated tempo of daily life, I am patting myself on the back for maintaining my now split workout schedule - training in the AM with cardio...
At present, I have initiated my program with 10-15 hours of cardio training in areas of distance endurance (running and cycling), and hill training (road and trail running). I am seeking to develop a weight training regimen to develop strength for the purpose of physical endurance.
They're comeing along - slowly but surely...The first part of the week are always the hardest - specialy after a long weekend. so the MOMAR - is that a bike race?
