Evans High School Attended 1976 to 1979 Orlando, Florida United States
When I Started:
Mar, 1981
How I Started:
COLLEGE. Then, off & on during my 20's. Worked out regularly in my late 20's to mid 30's. Got out of shape in my mid to late 30's, due to busyness of life, kids, etc.
WAKE-UP CALL IN 2002: WHOA! Hit 170 lbs, a weight I had never come close to. Lost 25 lbs in 4 mths. Consistent workouts since then.
JUNE 2008: Came across the BB.com body transformations. Inspired to improve diet to drop more BF% to get leaner.
LESSON LEARNED: Since 2002, I’ve been in pretty good shape, doing weight training & cardio, but still had a layer of BF covering up all my efforts. I generally ate healthy, but I have a weakness for snacking at night after dinner. I used to think that working out hard would compensate for mediocre diet. Boy, was I WRONG.

Why I Love It:
FEEL GREAT: Always, after working out.
HUGE LIFE IMPROVEMENT: In 2002 I also started taking vitamins & improved my eating habits. I now have FAR LESS problem with lower back pain (I have scoliosis) & migraine headaches. Plus, I went from being the most likely to get sick in our family to the least likely.

How I Stay Motivated:
WORKOUTS: No problem. It's one of the best parts of my day. Plus, there's not much to interfere with a 5-5:30am workout.
DIET: Different story with staying off the junk food & sweets (esp at night, after dinner). A lifetime bad habit of using food for enjoyment (instead of fuel), & to relieve stress or boredom.
DAUGHTERS: They will be teens when I’m in my mid-late 50’s. I want to keep up w/ them!
LONGEVITY: Don't want to live an unhealthy & sedentary life as I age, the way my parents did. The last 10 yrs of their lives were filled with declining health & mobility, mostly due to poor eating habits & no exercise. I want to stay fit & active for decades to come.

BB Accomplishments:

Wendy is rocking the 40's. Went from out-of-shape to incredible shape, all the way to competing on stage. All while in her 40's, full-time worker, wife, mom, etc. No nonsense & proves there's NO EXCUSE not to carve out the time for exercise. JUST DO IT.
She's the same age as me with a hardbody, while living a busy & active life. There's no reason to "be old" in our 40's, 50's, 60's or 70's, if a person takes action to live a healthy, fit & active life.
What supplements do you take immediately before your workout? Why?

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
Back strain a few times. Years ago, due to lifting something improperly. Nowadays, can occasionally tweak the back picking up or setting down a weight. I'm not 25 anymore.

Do you sometimes use energy enhancing supplements?
Yes
Which supplements do you take? When do you take them?
I'm beginning to think I'm a HIIT snob. This morning, as usual, I saw scads of people doing steady-state cardio for an eternity. Plodding along on the treadmills & ellipticals for 45, 50, 60 min's and more. ZERO INTENSITY CARDIO. NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BREAKING A SWEAT. So many of...
Ha!...hey, now watch it!;) I was actually born and raised in Athens, so you can imagine that my family and I BLEED the red and black...well, with the exception of my eldest son who is a gators fan. We give him quite the trouble around these parts!...LOL (Off the record: I really LOVE Tim Tebow) Shhhh...you can't tell, cause I would be dis-owned....LOL
You really are one brave dude, Al, to show up on here wearing ... dare I say it...that goofy shirt. *cue me ducking your swing*. Team's doing well, I take it?
yes it will. I think we showed you can shutdown Mark Ingram, but others will fill the gaps. Both teams goal is two Finish. The Gators have to figure out what to do when Tim gets shutdown.
Okay, whatever. The showdown continues. Tim will not have a easy day this time. I just spoke with Terrence and Julio this morning and they are looking forward to Saturday. Have a great day Al.
She arrived from Poland as a 19 y/o in 1971. She couldn't understand me and I couldn't understand her. The owner of the shop spoke Ukranian as did she, so we muddled thru the first while. From 1999-2003 I shaved my head and gave her 4 yrs off. She has been at it since then again. But as the days, months and yrs go by, there is less she has to take care of. I should start asking for a discount. :-) W
Well you're back on track right after the holiday weekend so I think that's good. I did very little traveling, went to my parents' house which is just two hours away. I'm very lucky to live so close to home!
good morning Al, so good to have you back! geez, missed your smiling face, oh wait, you arent smiling in your avi, kind of scowling. heheh i pray that you have an incredible day!
Welcome back. That is an early post. Poor meals yest with Grey Cup snacks. Watta game. Came down to the last play to determine a winner! I'll take Grey Cups over Super Bowls any day. MTL 28 - SK 27. Did cardio on the steps this a.m. Calves will be screaming tomorrow. :-) W
Wow you really are taking a long wknd. Must be nice and relaxing. We have snow!. Rode the bike downtown yesterday afternoon, but I wouldn't ride today. Roads are a bit slippery. Hardly any to speak of, so won't be surprise if it all melts. Grey Cup today. Go Riders. I choke on that being a Bomber fan. :-) I would like the Cup to stay on the prairies. Calgary won last yr. Montreal has a powerful team though. Better get ready for church. Have a good one. W
How was your day yesterday? I spent mine working in the a.m. and at the archives in the afternoon. No rest, turkey, or pie here. :-) Did you sharpen your elbows for those 3am door crashers today? W
good morning Al! I pray that today is a day of resting in the knowledge that Christ loves you and that He knows all you are struggling with! have a magnificent day!
