Evans High School Attended 1976 to 1979 Orlando, Florida United States
When I Started:
Mar, 1981
How I Started:
COLLEGE. Then, off & on during my 20's. Worked out regularly in my late 20's to mid 30's. Got out of shape in my mid to late 30's, due to busyness of life, kids, etc.
WAKE-UP CALL IN 2002: WHOA! Hit 170 lbs, a weight I had never come close to. Lost 25 lbs in 4 mths. Consistent workouts since then.
JUNE 2008: Came across the BB.com body transformations. Inspired to improve diet to drop more BF% to get leaner.
LESSON LEARNED: Since 2002, I’ve been in pretty good shape, doing weight training & cardio, but still had a layer of BF covering up all my efforts. I generally ate healthy, but I have a weakness for snacking at night after dinner. I used to think that working out hard would compensate for mediocre diet. Boy, was I WRONG.

Why I Love It:
FEEL GREAT: Always, after working out.
HUGE LIFE IMPROVEMENT: In 2002 I also started taking vitamins & improved my eating habits. I now have FAR LESS problem with lower back pain (I have scoliosis) & migraine headaches. Plus, I went from being the most likely to get sick in our family to the least likely.

How I Stay Motivated:
WORKOUTS: No problem. It's one of the best parts of my day. Plus, there's not much to interfere with a 5-5:30am workout.
DIET: Different story with staying off the junk food & sweets (esp at night, after dinner). A lifetime bad habit of using food for enjoyment (instead of fuel), & to relieve stress or boredom.
DAUGHTERS: They will be teens when I’m in my mid-late 50’s. I want to keep up w/ them!
LONGEVITY: Don't want to live an unhealthy & sedentary life as I age, the way my parents did. The last 10 yrs of their lives were filled with declining health & mobility, mostly due to poor eating habits & no exercise. I want to stay fit & active for decades to come.

Wendy is rocking the 40's. Went from out-of-shape to incredible shape, all the way to competing on stage. All while in her 40's, full-time worker, wife, mom, etc. No nonsense & proves there's NO EXCUSE not to carve out the time for exercise. JUST DO IT.
What supplements do you take immediately before your workout? Why?

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
Back strain a few times. Years ago, due to lifting something improperly. Nowadays, can occasionally tweak the back picking up or setting down a weight. I'm not 25 anymore.

Do you sometimes use energy enhancing supplements?
Yes
Which supplements do you take? When do you take them?
HACK #1: Leg day this morning. I had a solid workout, but I could tell my head was not fully in the game and I was not giving it 110%. So I did a few extra sets on hack squats. 10 sets total. I finished up legs with the squat jumps I experimented with last week. KILLER. I had 20...
Not sure if the gym is in the cards today. My pop and his cousin were over to put a window in my diningroom yest. My pop returns this afternoon and probably not fair to leave him to finish himself. :-) May only be curling today. Our gym hours are so poor on the wknds. Open late and close early. If they opened like they do M-F, I could get my w/o in b/f curling. But the U services are quite poor for hours. W
Al, that has been my favorite song for months, in fact it is my ring tone on one of my phones! always turn it up way loud when it comes on the radio! awesome song and of course it is Toby Mac!
AL! Im so glad to see you! haha missed your smiling face all day! hope you got your deadline made! thanks for the nice comment on my blog! I love my crazy life in Christ because it is a whole lot better than the dead one I had with the world! :) may the SON shine on you today!
A nicer bike ride in today as there is barely a wind. B/c it is so dark I don't see a lot. As I rode past a bus stop at 5:45, a guy from the shadows yells out 'great job buddy'. On my bike I am in my own little world thinking whatever, and I also don't expect to hear anyone greeting me at that time. Gave me a startle. :-) Don't know what position I slept in last nite, but my neck is very sore. Back and bis this a.m. A treat to w/o early on a Friday. Have a grt day!! W
Might not have been such an inspiration if you could read my mind as I cursed the wind. :-) M-W was much worse tho. Going home the air was dead all flags hanging limp. Hope it is like that tomorrow. Will be in early as Ash will go to school with a friend and I don't need to get her set for day care. W
Thanks for your kind words pal. That is awesome that you were in the navy as well. My dad was and he complained about it all my life and after looking into it, I saw that there was a lot of benefits. So after he argued with me for a month, he said that if they would take him back in at 54, he would go back. I read one of your blogs also and I totally agree with you on the holiday thing. This will probably be the first that I am not a glutton, haha. Thanks for the encouragement.
I see where your comimg from Al. You seem to get my point. Its just that there is soo much to do out there than spend life in a drive through or static by the tube. When I say add years I meant death date, no one knows when that will happen. So being alive, having life to your years is important. Like yorself for example, I know people in there mid 40's that live like they are 60!! Thats crazy! Why!? any way thanks for the reply.
