When I Started:
Mar, 2007
How I Started:
I got started when I was 11/12 years old practicing the art of Tae Kwon Do. Then I met my best friend. At the time he was a Linebacker for my high school football team and he needed a workout partner when he couldn't get to the school gym. Also, it got me into the gym to start pushing some olympic style weights.
Why I Love It:
I'm doing it because I have a better understanding and appreciation of what a healthy lifestyle can do for me. Eventually, once I've completed my certification I will be using what I've learned to help other people achieve a healthier lifestyle themselves.
How I Stay Motivated:
The Motivation:
Though, telecom has been good to me and has provided for me and my family, I have to say that it's time to move on to something I have a passion for. I'm taking my final examination for my ISSA certification and looking to schedule my CPR/AED Re-certification. The emphasis here is a passion for helping people. The next logical step for me is to be a personal trainer again.
The Strategy:
I have to stay one step ahead of myself. I am my own worst enemy so, I stay focused on what I want to accomplish while reconciling with the part of me that prefers to do nothing and open a bag of potato chips (..mmmm potato chips..). I'm striving to be the best I can be and not comparing myself to others. That's probably the one de-motivator I had the most trouble with growing up. Long as I understand that everyone is different I can motivate myself by emphasizing my own differences. Also, being creative with my workouts. Changing it up with every workout so I ensure that my mind and body don't become stagnant and plateau.
BB Accomplishments:
Going from 145lbs w/ about 8% bodyfat to 186lbs w/ about 22-25% bodyfat. None of it exercise induced. Time for a change, huh? ;)

What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Anything worthwhile takes dedication and commitment. Keep balanced with training, nutrition and rest. Keep changing it up. It'll keep things fresh and you moving forward and on track for whatever goals you might have for yourself. Focus.Anything worthwhile takes dedication and commitment. What do you do before your workout to get motivated and energized?
Warm-up, think about why I'm doing it and then, just do it.
I'm currently working on my schedule as I become more and more adapted to weight training. A summary would be using (3) levels of intensity staggered/offset and applied to each body/muscle group. I'm shooting for a 2 a-day split (workout twice a day) to help maximize workouts and...
