My fitness goal is to make my body a hard body. I want to have lost 10 pounds by Memorial Day Weekend and to see some definition in my arms, stomach by August.
Goal (Long):
I have never been happy with my body. As I grow older, I always think I just need to loose 20 pounds. I began walking with friends and we got serious and ended up doing a marathon. It was great to have a goal that had me focused on something other than "losing weight". Now, I have stopped exercising and am finding it hard to motivate myself. I like to be challenged. Then I saw bodybuilding and had my "aha" moment, that my problem is not that I just need to loose weight, but that I need to gain muscle and definition. Which led me to bodybuilding. I want to completely transform my body into a hard body. I want 6 pack abs and a tight butt and defined arms. I don't want anything to jiggle. Since this is brand new, not sure how to set goals. So, by end of this week I want to have identified a meal plan and initial workout plan. I want to have assembled all needed equipment/supplies and have mapped out a good daily routine. I want to have establish my baseline so I can track my progress.
How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
Too soon to say! But I hope to set a good example for others to follow

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you in your career?
This is funny. I just got a new consulting job - I am self-employed and I will be developing a brand that is known for Triathalons and I will be developing products for it. The best tag line "Ordinary people doing extraordinary things". I can relate to that! I think it helps me to understand what motivates and inspires people to do bodybuilding, healthy lifestyle and that will give me great input for developing product line that will help people achieve their goals. Other than the obvious benefits (appearance, health, etc.), how has bodybuilding and fitness improved your overall life?
Too early, but I really like connecting with other people who are like-minded.
Grrrr, getting started has really been tough for me. But it doesn't matter, I am not going to give up no matter how long it takes. Got my clean eating book by Tosca and it is really good - especially the 2 week menu. I am much better at following directions than having to make it up myself! ...
Thanks! :) LISS=Low Intensity Steady State (cardio). E.g. slow or medium paced elliptical/treadmill/jogging/s wimming/biking/etc. for a longer period of time (30-60 min.). HIIT=High Intensity Interval Training. 3 minutes warmup, 30 seconds all-out sprint, 30-90 seconds medium pace, 30 seconds sprint, 30-90 medium, etc. for about 10-25 minutes. They do different things for calorie burn during/after the cardio, and help your body/heart in difft ways.
I completely agree. Be aware, you absolutely MUST use the Omron Body Fat Analyzer at the same time every day. I've been tracking it 3x/day, and there are significant differences between when I first get up, late afternoon, and just before bed...
Technically...no. If you google for it you'll find you can use a tape measure on a few body areas, weight and height to get body fat. But...those haven't been accurate for me. :( I spent $32 and ordered an Omron Body Fat analyzer from amazon.com. But then, I like stats, so that type of thing helps motivate me.
You are so welcome, glad I could help. Keep pressing on, looking forward to hearing all the results you will be having in the future. Have a great day!
First of all ~ Welcome to "A Higher Power within Yourself" body group. I have to say that I love your desire in your profile - well done! You are taking the first steps to your goals. However small or big you're doing it! Ideas- find a local bb event, fitness camps, sign up for trial gym memberships (most will give you a couple free passes) Most of all stick with it!
I work out at home too so if you ever need creative ideas on how to work certain muscles when you don't have the equipment a gym would let me know I have had to be real creative with some of them.
Welcome to the site girl. Just read your blog and you're right, you can do soooo much with just the dumbbells. For diet tips check out Tosca Renos site at eatcleandiet.com it helped me out. Have a great day.
