How I Started:
As a freshman in college I was really concerned about the "Freshman 15". I started working out to lose a little weight and become what I've always wanted to be...a gym rat! I wanted to look like those women who you look at and know they spend their life in the gym.
Why I Love It:
I love the way it makes my body look and the way I feel. I feel powerful, strong, and fully capable of doing anything. Plus, I love the sweat!!!!
How I Stay Motivated:
Staying motivated is tough sometimes. What makes me get up at 5am to workout? I think it's because I know that when my workout is done, I've done something great. And it gets me mentally prepared for the day.
BB Accomplishments:
I ran my first 5k race on November 15, 2008. That was my first race and I finished in 29:58. I ended up placing 2nd in my age division (out of at least five people!). I was incredibly excited!
MARATHON NOV 22, 2009 IN TULSA
Finished in 4 hours 16 minutes (faster than I had planned!) My feet are in pain from blisters and my legs won't work for a few days, but I feel absolutely amazing and can't wait to run my next marathon!
April 4 I completed another 5K in 27:17 and won 3rd in my age division. Gearing up for the 1/2 marathon in June!!! :)
June 13, 2009 I finished my first 1/2 Marathon! 13.1 miles across Joplin, in the heat, and it was fabulous. My marathon group starts in August and hopefully I can run my first marathon in November!

Sam is one reason I have to stay strong. He outweighs me by more than 10lbs!
I don't like to see people bashing themselves in their pictures. This is my ab pic and I'm very proud of it. This is the best I've ever looked! I hope to look even better in February.

Goal (Long):
Although I am proud of how I look, I'd like to be leaner and stronger. I'm registered for a 1/2 marathon in June, which is my next goal. I'm kind of thinking about doing the Route 66 Marathon in Tulsa in November at the end of this year. We'll see...
Goal update 6/15/09: Ran the half-marathon on 6/13 and it was amazing. My time was 2 hours 14 min. Got through most of it without any pain. The sun was on us the last couple of miles which was kinda hot. I didn't feel pain until the next day getting out of bed. Little bit of leg pain. But I would totally recommend working towards a half. Try and join a running group or start your own. I had a much better time b/c I was running with my running partner the whole way!
I'm also tracking my food better, writing down calories, grams of protein and carbs. I'm working on getting my bodyfat percentage down a little. Right now it's at about 20%. I'm shooting for 17%.

Usually 12-15. When I bump up the weight I try to get 8-10. Sometimes I do even heavier weight and try to get about 4 reps.

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
Not as long as other people seem to. Maybe 30-45 seconds. I'm trying to rest longer in between sets.

What celebrity body would you most like to have? Why?
None. I want my body! I've learned to love it. It's mine...I'm going to have it 'till the day I die...so I might as well love it! I do admire Jillian Michaels.
